Yvonne Marie Johnston , born on September 13, 1955, in Montclair, NJ, was a beacon of resilience and determination. Her spirit was as bright as her beloved hometown, and she carried that light with her throughout her life. Yvonne's journey was one of faith and ambition, a testament to her belief in the words of Jeremiah 29:11 - "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

Yvonne was a loving daughter, wife, mother, and friend. She spent her youth in New Jersey before relocating to Louisa, Virginia, where she lived for 23 years. She was a dedicated and caring individual, always putting others before herself. Yvonne's loving nature was not only evident in her personal life but also in her professional life. As a librarian with Richmond City Schools for over 30 years, she nurtured countless young minds and hearts, fostering a love for knowledge and creativity.

Ambitious and creative, Yvonne held several degrees and certifications, including a Masters in Education with a 4.0 GPA and a Masters in Library Science. She was a proud member of various prestigious organizations, including the American Library Association and the Minority Business Association of Central Virginia. Her entrepreneurial spirit led to the launch of multiple businesses. Yvonne's ambition was not limited to her own success; she was passionate about spreading financial literacy and advocating for generational wealth. She was a lifelong learner, constantly seeking knowledge and sharing what she learned with others.

Yvonne's creative spirit was evident in her many hobbies, which ranged from fashion and interior design to painting and singing. She had a particular talent for event-hosting and networking, bringing people together with her warm and inviting personality. Yvonne was also a dedicated member of her community, serving on various committees and boards. Her leadership, attention to detail, and dedication to helping others made her a pillar in her community.

Yvonne is survived by her children, Kenya (Tarik) Johnston, Richard Deron Johnston, and Dara Johnston; and her son-in-law, Tarik (Kenya) Kilgore. She is preceded in death by her parents, Alonza Sr., and Inez Coleman.

Viewing will be held in The Sun Chapel at D.D. Watson, Louisa, on Friday, 15 November  2024, from 4-7 pm. Funeral services will also take place at noon in The Sun Chapel at D.D. Watson on Saturday, November 16, 2024.
