Woodrow Wilson Harris, Sr., 83, of Louisa, went to be with his heavenly Father on Saturday,
January 12, 2008. Woodrow was born October 11, 1924, in Louisa County.
He was the son of the late Robert and Madilion Harris. In addition to his parents, he was
predeceased by a son, Hillary Harris.
He is survived by his loving, cherished and devoted wife of 55 years, Bertha Harris; three
daughters, Bertha Rush, Chyann White (WT), all of Louisa and Wendy Washington (David), of
Camp Springs, MD; three sons, Woodrow Harris, Jr. and Dan Harris, both of Louisa and Jerry
Harris, of Glen Allen; his grandchildren whom he loved very much, Angel Rush and Betsy Rush,
both of Temple Hills, MD, Daryl Harris, Telly Harris, Wantrell White, Dustin Harris, Danellie
Booker, all of Louisa, Tasha Washington, of Suitland, MD and Brandon Womack, of Bowie, MD;
three great grandchildren, Destinee Burruss, Jayden Parks and Jaylen White; one God daughter,
Lonnie Thompson; devoted family friends including Nancy Samuels, Tonya Parker, Gwen Harris,
Marilyn Harris, Lacey Hudak, Vita Straughn, Jeannie Womack, Roye Williams, Joseph Rush and
a host of in-laws, other relatives and friends.
Woodrow was a member and deacon of Zion Travelers Baptist Church until his health began
to fail. As a young man he enjoyed farming and playing the guitar. He owned and operated Harris
Sanitary Services for over 30 years. Being an only child, Woodrow was a private man that loved
spending quality time with his wife, children and family. He also enjoyed reading his Bible, praying
and gardening. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and will be
greatly missed.
There will no public viewing, however, there will be a picture memorial viewing and
signing of the register book from noon to 7 p.m. on Friday, January 18 at Thomasson Watson
Funeral Chapel.
The funeral will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, January 19, 2008 at Zion Travelers Baptist Church.
Interment will be in the church cemetery with pastor Charles Williams officiating.
