Willie Nathan Cooley, Sr., affectionately known as "Papa Cooley" or "Mr.C" entered peacefully into eternal rest on August 7, 2022. Willie was born April 28th 1940 to the late Samuel and Sallie Cooley.
He was married for 62 loving years to Julia A. Cooley, who he fell in love with at a school May Day Event. From that union, three children were born. Willie was employed by Leroy Votion where he was a brick layer for 43 hard working years. Willie's hobbies included going to watch wrestling in Richmond, VA at the Colosseum, going to the race track with his son "Buck", and sneaking into the kitchen to steal food while it was being prepared. Willie loved listening to James Brown, playing his numbers, and watching Vanna White on Wheel of Fortune. Before his health declined Willie could often be found in Louisa meeting his dear friend Mr.Tyler.
Willie was preceded in death, by his parents, Samuel and Sallie Cooley and siblings, Sallie Cooley Winfree and Walter Cooley.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Julia A. Cooley; three children, Willie A. Cooley, Willie N. Cooley Jr. (Kris) and Princess M. Sims Cooley; four grandchildren, Vanessa Cooley (Mike), Zelena Cooley (George), Christopher Sims (Patara) and Antoine Cooley; ten great grandchildren; his sister, Corrine Mallory (James); brothers, Samuel Cooley Jr., Phillip Cooley (Elsie) and John Cooley (Doris); three sisters-in law, Francis Richardson, Charlotte King, and Helen Morris; one uncle, Nathan Cooley; three devoted nephews, Theodore Richardson, Kenneth King and Andra King and a host of nieces, nephews cousins, in-laws, family and friends.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Sunday, August 14, 2022 in The Sun Chapel at D. D. Watson, Louisa.
Interment will follow in the Spring Grove Cemetery.
THERE WILL BE NO PUBLIC VIEWING.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Monroe Health and Rehabilitation
Center where Willie was under the loving and warm care of Alex Hall, April Shelton, and King Dunn.
