William Alexander "Willie" Verdier departed this life peacefully on Sunday August 14, 2022 at Sentara Maratha Jefferson Hospital. He was one of two children born to the late Edward Verdier and Ruby Verdier.
"Willie" or "Lightning" as he was affectionately known was born April 8, 1942. He leaves to cherish his memory, a brother , James Verdier of Gordonsville and a host of family and friends.
He served as a "Mine Detector " in the 39th Engineer Battalion during the Vietnam War from 1968-1969 in which he was very proud of. He was also a member of the VFW. Willie worked for the City of Charlottesville for approximately 30 years as well.
Willie was always full of conversation when he was in your presence. He loved to sing and would strike up a tune at anytime. He was also known as "the man" who could pick a guitar. Another favorite past time of his was collecting flashlights which he often showed off to everyone. You could also catch up with Willie at the Hardee's sometimes getting his coffee. Willie was a kind soul who would help anyone in need . He will truly be missed but never forgotten.
The family would like to thank the Sentara Maratha Jefferson Hospital Staff and all acts of kindness. A special thanks to a long time special friend, Marion.
