Whitney Blake Coleman was born May 19, 1971, to the late Lawrence and Wilma (Johnson) Coleman. Whitney attended Louisa County High School, graduating in 1989.
At an early age, she joined the Watchtower Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Raymond Johnson. Whitney found joy in attending church services and Sunday School, where she learned and practiced Christian values. She loved Psalm 23. As an active member of the choir, Whitney consistently contributed her talents and enthusiasm.
She began her professional journey in security and law enforcement as a Security Guard for Burns International Security Services at North Anna Power Station operated by Virginia Electric and Power Company (VEPCO). She later secured a position as a Correctional Officer at the Central Virginia Regional Jail, Orange, VA. Whitney was a Correctional Officer at Fluvanna Correctional Center, Fluvanna, VA. She also worked at the Louisa County High School.
As a youngster, Whitney enjoyed spending time with her dad. While her mom taught her sisters to cook, her dad was teaching her to hunt and fish. She realized the thrill of hunting alongside her dad and uncles. Although she enjoyed catching various fish, flounders were not among her favorites. Whitney’s vibrant personality and infectious laughter made her a delight to be around. She often entertained others with her amusing stories.
Whitney Blake Coleman, 54, passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at the University of Virginia Hospital, Charlottesville, VA.
Memories of Whitney will be cherished by her two sisters: Theresa Coleman, Mineral, VA and Jewel Mason, Greensboro, NC; nephew: Andre’ (Rhonda); great niece, Olivia Mason, Richmond, VA; niece Janelle Mason, Greensboro, NC; two aunts: Clineth Graves (Ernest) and Madeline Mickens (Gordon Raphael); two uncles: Kenneth Johnson (Eavon), Rocky Mount, NC and Julian Johnson, Mineral, VA; and devoted friends: James “Sonny” and Grace Carter, Robert and Melba Jones, Felicia Bullock, Jane and Sylvester Courtney, Aubrey and Dorothy Poindexter, Julia Trent and James Mallory and a host of other relatives and friends who enriched her life.
