God stopped by Friday, February 19, 2010 to let his angel, Virginia Lee Brooks Jones, age 80, know that her work here on earth was done.
She was born on September 4, 1929 in Louisa County to the late Frank and Mable King Brooks.
In addition to her parents, Virginia is preceded in death by her husband, Nelson Jack Jones, four brothers and four sisters. She was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church, but also attended Philippi Christian Church. She attended the public schools of Louisa county and graduated at the age of 16 from school in Philadelphia. Her occupation from that time until she became ill was a homemaker.
She leaves to cherish one sister, Rev. Mamie Green (Rev. James Green), of Mineral, VA; three sisters-n-law, Josephine Brooks of Gum Spring, Juanita Brooks of Maryland, and devoted, Patience Lofton (David); a devoted Godchild, Cathy Chambers (John) of Mineral, VA; eighteen nephews (two devoted nephews, Joseph Scott, Jr. and Nelson Johnson), nineteen nieces (three devoted nieces, Bessie Brooks, Nicole Scott, and Shirley Boyd, all of Mineral,VA); twenty nine great great nieces, twenty two great great nephews; devoted friends, Frances Williams, Mryth Thompson, Thomas Harris and a host of cousins, other family and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2010 at 2 p.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church, Pendleton Road, Mineral, VA. The Rev. James Green will deliver the eulogy and interment will follow in the Devine Baptist Church Cemetery.
