Virginia Elizabeth Foster departed this life on May 16, 2018, at her home in Mineral, VA.  She was the daughter of the late Daisy Henson, born on May 15, 1929 in Louisa County, Virginia.

She joined the Rising Sun Baptist Church at an early age and also served at the Laurel Hill Baptist Church.

On August 10, 1946 she was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late John Lester Foster, Sr.  To this marital union five children were born.  She was preceded in death by her mother, her husband, and one son, John Lester Foster, Jr.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  She is survived by three daughters:  Clydenia Shelton, Karen Riddick, and Tammy Foster – all of Mineral, VA;  one son:  Garland (Matilda) Foster of Zions Crossroads, VA;  one daughter-in-law:  Doris Buckner;  eight grandchildren:  Chasity (George) Baskerfield of Louisa, Lance (Amanda) Shelton of King George, VA, Terrell Riddick of Mineral, Cassandra Marshall of Zions Crossroads, VA, Garland Foster, II of Chesterfield, VA, Mario Foster of Alexandria, VA, Asia Foster of Chesterfield, VA, Damon Riddick of Mineral, VA;  ten great-grandchildren;  two special friends:  Deloris Johnson and Pat Cutright; a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday, May 21, 2018 at Laurel Hill Baptist Church 7652 Kentucky Spring Road Mineral, VA with Rev. Barry Carpenter officiating. Interment will follow in the Spring Grove Memorial Cemetery.

God gave us a wonderful mother – one who would never grow old

She had a smile like sunshine – and a heart of purest gold.

But God saw her getting weary – He did what He knew to be best.

He put His arms around her – and whispered…..Come and rest.
