Valerie Yvonne Quarles was the fourth child born to the union of the late Lola Mealy Quarles and Prentiss Quarles. She made her debut into the world on October 4, 1949.

Valerie accepted Christ at an early, affiliating with the Zion Travelers Baptist Church. She was a faithful member and worked diligently in the church until health issues prevented her from attending regularly. She served as treasurer of the Cuisine Committee for many years.

Valerie was predeceased by her only son, Carl Quarles. She leaves to cherish loving memories of her: two sisters, Ruby Epps and Renay Grooms; three brothers, Curthis Quarles, Langston Quarles (Frances), and Tyrone Quarles (Fay); two grandchildren, Pierre Quarles and Carl Quarles; four great-grandchildren; one aunt, Maureen Athy; two uncles, Warren Mealy and Linbergh Mealy and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at Zion Travelers Baptist Church, 3662 Roundabout Road, Louisa, VA with the Reverend Gilbert Bates officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
