Tonya Michelle James age 46 of Charlottesville, passed away peacefully on December 28, 2017.
Born on December 20, 1971, in WV, Tonya was the daughter of Francine James and Richard Yates.

Tonya is preceded in death by her maternal grandmother Madeline James, Great aunt Odessa Parrish, Aunt Gwendolyn Tweedy and Cousin Edward Tweedy.  Paternal Grandma, Katherine Yates and Aunt, Deborah Yates. Tonya is survived by her two children Delante James (Foo) and Daeja Wade, one grandson, Eli James; Mother, Francine James, Father, Richard Yates; two Brothers, Eric Hairston And Wife Crystal of Columbia, Omar James of Charlottesville; two Sisters Katrina Hairston and Katherine James; Nieces, Anya Haught, Khimani James; Nephews, Ej Hairston, Iya'an Hairston, Jahaad Hairston, Kam James, Ian Haught, and Tyreke Coleman.  A host of other Honorary Children and relatives; Rayshon Tibbs, Godmother of Daeja and Foo and GiGi to Little Bean, who has always cared for them as if they were her own kids and grandchild and loved Tonya as her own sister sharing a bond only they understand.

Tonya is a graduate of Charlottesville High School and went on to obtain her Accounting degree from National Business College. She was employed by the University of Virginia with 14 years of service.  Tonya had a love for reading books, she was an avid sports fan, known as the personal cheerleader for the Charlottesville High School girls basketball team and followed the girls to all their games near and far while her daughter was a member of the team. Tonya a North Carolina Tar Hill Fan,  had an ongoing rivalry  with her sister about whose basketball team was better, but of course Tonya would argue that UNC  was the better team.  A new pastime was spending time with her new grandson that she lovingly nicknamed Bean.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at Evergreen Bible Way Church 1576 Evergreen Road Louisa, Va 23093, with Pastor Elder Rubin Lewis Officiating. Viewing at the Sun Chapel on Tuesday, January 2, 2018,  2-6pm. Flowers can be sent to the Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
