Timothy Nathaniel Shelton, Sr. was born on December 7, 1945 to the late Deacon Jordan and Sister Bertha Shelton in Louisa County, Virginia. Timothy transitioned to begin his eternal rest on November 11, 2024 at McGuire Veterans' Hospital in Richmond, VA.

Tim accepted Christ as his personal Savior and was baptized and joined with the membership of the Rising Sun Baptist Church. He was a 1965 graduate of A. G. Richardson High School. Timothy was drafted into the United States Army on December 29, 1965 and was discharged on December 14, 1967. On June 28, 1969 Tim joined in holy matrimony with Emma Marjorie Shelton and God blessed this union with two sons. Tim worked at Louisa Manufacturing and other jobs before deciding being his own boss was the way to go. Tim owned and operated Tim's Backhoe and Electric Service for many years until his physical health would no longer allow.

Tim was a dedicated songbird who sang with the Gospel Tones, Chosen, the Rising Sun Men's Chorus and Senior Choir as well as the Ebenezer Sanctuary and Adult Choirs. His love for sharing God's Word through song was evident every time he opened his mouth. Tim also worked with the Men's Ministry at Rising Sun. His quick wit could always put a smile on your face. Tim was not one to ever be at a loss for a quick and accurate comeback.

Tim was preceded in death by his son: Timothy "Timmy"; his parents: Jordan and Bertha Shelton; and siblings: Alice May Shelton, Samuel Lewis, George Shelton, Isabell Mickens, Oscar Shelton, John Shelton, Wilson Shelton, Brenda Shelton and Gregory Shelton.

Left to continue this journey and to cherish Tim's precious memories are his wife:  Emma Marjorie;  his son:  Chad;   brothers:  Walter, Albert, Ray, and Larry;  sisters:  Gerleen Sawyer, Bertha Harris (Roy) and Jesse Hayden;  grandchildren: Akirah, Tarashia, Talena, Curtis, and Ty;  six great-grandchildren;   sisters-in-law: Sarah Smith, Louise Langhorne (Walter), Doris Tomes, Oneida Taylor, Arlene Shelton, Joyce Johnson (Anthony), Clydenia, Clarissa, and Fannie Shelton;  brothers-in-law:  Charlie Shelton, Jr. (Gertrude), David (Emma), and George Shelton;  one uncle:  Harry Scott of New York;  three aunts:  Edna Scott of Chicago, Harriett Scott of New York, and Tina Scott of Puerto Rico;  cousins:  Mildred Coles and Alease Samp;  devoted lifelong friends:  Angela Shelton and Russell Hayden;  cousins, nieces and nephews; along with many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held 1:30pm Sunday, November 17, 2024 at Rising Sun Baptist Church with Rev. Walter L. Pleasants Jr. (Pastor) officiating. Interment with military honors, will follow in the church cemetery.
