Timothy Lamont Shelton, 58, of Louisa, Virginia, passed away on February 27, 2023.
Timmy, or Alim as many new him, was born on May 7, 1964 to Mary Ann Shelton (deceased) and Curtis Shelton (deceased) in
Atlantic City, New Jersey. After attending Atlantic City High School and finding the Muslim faith he decided on a change of
scenery and moved to Louisa, Virginia where he would spend the rest of his life.
An avid lover of life itself, Tim has lived enough for two people. In fact, those who have known Tim a long time know that you could
split Tim's life into two. Right down the middle. Tim's first life could be categorized as the urban youngster, from Atlantic City, NJ,
growing up in infamous Pitney Village with a very large family highlighted by his siblings Darlene, Charlene, Naim, Teresa, and
Shane Shelton. Atlantic City is where Tim found his Muslim faith, adopted his Islamic name, Alim, and had 7 children. Timothy aka
Little Timmy, Dasha (deceased), Qaadir, Anthony, Ibn-Alim, Tamir Brown, and Tamia Brown while also being a step father to
Francisco Nunez.
Tim's second life could be categorized as the reformed city slicker. In 1994, at the prime age of 30 years old, Tim left Atlantic City to
find a different life path in Louisa, Virginia. There, Tim enjoyed the sibling-ship of Lisa, Stacy, and Ricky, deepened his relationship
with his father Curtis, found his wife, Darlene, in 1995, had two more children, Elijah, and Angel (deceased), and found even more
family now with even MORE Sheltons living in VA (we are everywhere lol) as well as his newly found Graves family.
No matter how you came across Tim, no matter what you called him, Timothy, Timmy, Tim, Alim, Pop, Dad, or Pop Pop, and no
matter if you met the urban youngster or the reformed city slicker a couple of things were absolute truths. 1) He filled whatever room he was in with a charismatic laugh, a quick wit, and unmatched charm (with pride to match lol). 2) He had a huge heart. He gave what he could to anybody around him, never judged anyone, and was always there for you if you called on him. 3) He was going to make a way out of whatever hand life dealt him, and not just any way, he would make it Broadway! And last but not least 4) He LOVED his children, and would do anything to make sure they loved each other.
Tim is survived by his wife, children, and siblings noted above, hisTim is survived by his wife, children, and siblings noted above, his
9 grandchildren, Timothy "TJ" (16), Zyair (15), Simeon (14), Za'riyah (14), Y'sabella (12), Sanjhi (9), Marlee (5), Neko (2), and
Aubrey (2), daughter in laws, Victoria, Chantel, and Birlly, and a very large Virginia and New Jersey family who will miss Tim
dearly. The family gratefully acknowledges all acts of kindness expressed to us at our time of bereavement.
