Tijuana Louise Franklin 50, of Louisa, Virginia surrounded by her loving family went home to be with the Lord on Saturday December 14, 2013. She was born in Plainfield, NJ on October 17, 1963, to Gist Johnson Sr.,and Martha Griggs of Louisa, Virginia.
She was preceded in death by her spouse Anthony B. Franklin Sr., her grandparents, Harvey & Althea Thompson and one brother Gist Johnson Jr. She was educated in the Scotch Plains, NJ public schools. She was a certified Paralegal and a certified Floral Designer. She was also a licensed Beautician. Until the time of her illness she was employed at the Old Dominion Day School. She was a faithful member of the Kingdom United Ministries where Tyrone A. McCowin is the pastor. She served faithfully as an usher and a greeter.
She also enjoyed singing on the choir and working in the Hospitality Ministry. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She loved to travel and shop. Tijuana also enjoyed designing flower arrangements and crafting. She was always found cracking jokes, and making people laugh and smile. She was a devoted mother who adored and doted on all of her children.
She leaves to cherish her memory, two sons Anthony B. Franklin Jr. and Aaron M. Franklin of Louisa, VA. Three daughters Marquita Griggs-Culmer and husband Laron Culmer of Nassau Bahamas. Antrelle L. Franklin and Artivia K. Franklin of Louisa, VA. Her father Gist Johnson and her mother Martha Griggs of Louisa, VA. One brother Byron Trice and wife Norma of Louisa, VA. Three sisters Vanessa Thompson of Louisa, VA, Diane Dickerson and husband Michael of Holiday , FL and Tamesa Griggs of Louisa, VA. One devoted friend Renee Bishop of Richmond, VA and her beloved dog Shaggy. Tijuana a daughter, sister, mother, auntie and friend. We will forever remember the happy go lucky woman who was always full of life that would give and do anything to help anyone in need. You will be never be forgotten but forever cherished in our hearts.
There will be a viewing Wednesday December 18, 2013 6pm to 8pm at the Thomasson Watson Funeral Chapel 117 West Street Louisa, VA. The home going service will be Thursday December 19, 2013 at 1:00 pm at Louisa Baptist Church 305 East Main Street Louisa, VA, with Pastor Tyrone A. McCowin officiating. Interment will follow in the Wayland Baptist Church.
