Thomas Calvin "Dick" Holland, Jr., was call home by God on Sunday, May 17, 2009 at his residence in Louisa, Virginia.
He was one of 11 sibling born to Thomas William and Julia Winston Morris on April 19, 1931 in Louisa County, Virginia. He was preceeded in death by his parents and sister Mattie Hicks.
He attended Louisa County Public Schools, Thomas "Dick" was an active member of Galilee Baptist Church where he was a trustee, a member of the male chorus and senior choir. Initially, he and father operated a sawmill business. Later he and his brother Early owned and operated a successful logging business, Holland Brothers Logging, for the last 19 years.
In 1947, he was united in holy matrimony to Julia Mae Sims, to whom was born five children: Loretta Ann and husband John, Calvin Daniel and wife Pamela, Karen Rena, Donna Marie and husband William, Jr., Aaron Mandel and wife Marilyn. He had seven grandchildren Craig, William"Billy", Chealsey, Bryant, Stephanie, Daniel, Aaron, two great-grandchildren: Kayla, Andre; four brothers Leonard, Early and wife Barbara, Phillip and wife Frances, Ronnie; five sister Blanche, Ruth, Margie, Jeanette, Hosanne; close friends, Clyde Quarles, Roger Gaines, Henry Butler; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and close devoted friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 23, 2009, at Galilee Baptist Church 3598 Three Notch Road
Frencliff, Virginia 23053 with the Rev. Dr. Charles H. Sims, Sr., officiating. Interment with follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Thomasson Watson Funeral Chapel from 4 until 5 p.m. Friday, May 22, 2009.
