Thomas O. Henson, Jr. affectionately called "Buggie", 70, was called to his eternal home on Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at the University of Virginia Hospital, Charlottesville, Virginia. Thomas was born on February 12, 1943 to the late Thomas and Sylena Quarles Henson. He was preceded in death by his sister, Julia H. Quarles.
As a result of a birth defect, Buggie suffered from chronic epilepsy which prevented him from attaining a formal education or entering into the work force. Despite this, Buggie was helpful to his father in the garden and caring for livestock. He had many joys in life such as sitting on the front porch watching for a glimpse of a familiar passerby. Other things he enjoyed were watching his favorite game shows and a series called "Cops". He aslo loved listening to music on his radio and to his scanner.
Thomas leaves to cherish his memory – his devoted brother and caretaker, Gerald Henson, Louisa VA; his loyal brother-in-law Elder Quarles, Sr., Louisa VA; dedicated aunt and uncle (substitute mother and father) Clara and Horace Bruce, Kents Store VA; two nieces Cheryl Carter, Pamplin VA and Myra Tolliver, Woodbridge VA; two nephews- Elder J. Quarles Jr, Troy VA and Tawon Faucher and his friend Erica Moncada of Nashua NH; several great nieces and a great nephew. Also, his memory is left in the hearts of his devoted caregiver of 8 years, Louise Lewis and a good friend, Walter Hunter.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday, August 26, 2013 at Galilee Baptist Church 3598 Three Notch Rd, Kents Store, Virginia 23084; with Rev. Otis Spellman, Eulogist, Elder Rebun Lewis, Jr., officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
