Theresa Virgie Steele, passed away at home on Friday, August 5, 2016 at 1:47 p.m. after a battle with lewy body dementia.

Theresa was born on January 21, 1933 to Goldie and Eulalia Chisley, in Charles County, Maryland.

She married Wardell Steele, Sr. on August 16, 1953 in Washington D. C. To this union, seven children were born.

A wonderful mother and homemaker, Theresa never met a stranger. She loved everyone, but most of all, she loved the Lord with all her heart.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Wardell Steele, Sr. (whom mother called "Steele").

Theresa is survived by a daughter, Janice Steele (Joseph) Bentley of Maryland; six sons, Wardell (Pamela) Steele Jr. of Tennessee, Anthony (Phyllis) Steele of North Carolina, Larry (Pamela) Steele of Virginia, Kevin (Stracy) Steele of North Carolina, Keith Steele of Tennessee and Rickie Steele of Maryland; twenty grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family will receive family and friends from 6:30-7:30 pm Wednesday, August 10, 2016, and from 10:30 until service on Thursday morning at the church.

A CELEBRATION OF LIFE service will be held at 11:30 AM Thursday, August 11, 2016 at Zion Christian Church, 16158 Beaverdam School Road, Beaverdam, Virginia 23015 with Rev. Tommy Willcockson officiating.
