Thelma Rosalia Wilson was born on October 20, 1919, in
Frederick County, Maryland. She slept peacefully into eternal rest
at the Health and Rehabilitation Center of Louisa on Wednesday,
March 13, 2013.
A daughter of the late Thurston and Exie Wilson, she was preceded
in death by four brothers, John, Marcel, Paul, and Clifton Wilson;
two sisters, Hazel W. Brookens and Louise ("Weezie") Wilson.
Thelma received her early education in a little one room
schoolhouse on Sugar Loaf Mountain in Dickerson, Maryland.
There, she was encouraged to develop her nursing skills and as a
result, she went on to further her training in that field. Her nursing
career spanned more than 30 years with services rendered at Holy
Cross Hospital in Montgomery County, Maryland, as well as
Georgetown and Providence Hospitals in Washington, D.C.
While living in Washington, DC, she joined the Church of God,
headed by Elder Lightfoot Solomon Michaux, where she worked
faithfully for many years.
In 1989, Thelma and her nephew Jerome moved to Louisa,
where her sisters, Hazel and Louise resided. While she did not join First Baptist Church, she found joy in worshiping there until her health began to decline. In recent years, she especially enjoyed attending activities sponsored by the First Baptist COPE Ministry.
She will be remembered as a quiet, friendly lady who had a smile and kind word for everyone she met. Those qualities will be
treasured by all who knew and loved her.
Thelma leaves to cherish her memory: a devoted nephew, Jerome
Wilson of Louisa, VA; a niece, Vicki Smith and a great-nephew,
Shealon Smith, both of Centerville, VA; three very dear cousins,
Virginia and Barbara Wilson, of Dickerson, MD and Arlene Johnson
and family of Frederick, MD and other devoted neighbors
and friends.
Funeral services will held 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at Thomasson Watson Funeral Chapel with Rev. Bruce Jones officiating. Interment will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at Bell's Chapel Cemetery in Dickerson, MD.
