Thelma Louise Hunter, fondly loved and known as 'LuLu' was born on August 25, 1957, the daughter of the late John William Houchens and Alberta Hunter-Houchens in Louisa County, Virginia.
On the morning of November 15, 2018 Thelma slipped from time as we know it and entered into eternity.
Thelma attended public schools in Louisa County and was employed at Woolfolk Manufacturing, Wendy's, Decorite, Louisa BP, and Elk Creek Store. She enjoyed family and loved the gatherings of loved ones and friends. Thelma never met anyone who didn't walk away as her friend.
Thelma was blessed with four loving children and she shared that same motherly love with other children in her family.
Thelma accepted Christ as his personal Savior, was baptized and joined the Rising Sun Baptist Church under the pastoral leadership of Reverend Edward Taylor. In addition to her father, Thelma was preceded in death by her brother: Timothy Maurice.
Left to cherish sweet memories are her mother: Alberta Hunter-Houchens; two sons: Roger (Brandy) and JaQuan; two daughters: Debbie (Dedrick) and Taneika; her fiancé: Phillip Waller; six brothers: George (Belinda), Lawrence (Lisa), John O'Dell (Vandelia), Aaron, Venfert, and Reggie; four sisters: Patricia Syrkes (O'Dell), Gladys Coles (Clifton), Connie Coles (Michael), and Cynthia Walker; two uncles: James and Walter (Alice); four aunts: Hannah Houchens, Frances Hunter, Julia Jackson, and Bertha Davis Houchens; three godchildren: Alvin Shelton, Keisha Shelton, and Tasiya Paige; nine grandchildren: Asiana, Nyashia, RaQuell, Karron, Kaiden, DeQuan, Raheem, Julianna, and Seth; three great-grandchildren: Malachi, Kenston, and Jermiah; three devoted step daughters: Shameka Houchens, Patricia Jones, and Louise Shelton four friends who she loved as sisters: Arlene Houchens, Angela Ragland, Roberta Hunter, and LaVita Johnson; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at Rising Sun Baptist Church 6829 Fredericks Hall Road Mineral, VA 23117 with Rev. Walter Pleasants officiating. Interment will follow in the Spring Grove Memorial Cemetery.
