Susie Ann Brice Mallory was born October 4, 1924 in Louisa County, Virginia to the late Frank and Annie Clark Brice. She entered peacefully and quietly into eternal rest on Monday, May 12, 2008 at Trinity Mission of Charlottesville. She was preceded in death by her husband Calvin Mallory Sr.; and her parents, Frank Brice and Annie Clark Brice. Her church membership began early, and at a young age, becoming an upstanding member of Zion Traveler's Baptist Church. Although most would describe her nature as quite and shy, she did not allow those qualities deter her from becoming an active member of the Senior Choir, singing praises to the Lord. Finding ways of helping the ministries were never a problem, whatever her hands found to do, she did. She remained active in the church until she became ill.

Words such as caring, giving and hard working could best describe Susie's true nature, not only in the community, but also as a loving mother in her home. Caring is Susie. Whomever she worked for or with would agree that she treated their home just like her own, giving all the love and attention she could muster and sometimes more. No task was beyond doing, just give her a little time and she would figure it out.

Her life was not without love and loss. Early in her adult life she married the late Melvin Smith, their union ended in divorce shortly after it began. Love and devotion would not long be out of her life. Sometime after, she married the late Calvin Mallory. This holy union they shared saw the birth of the second of her two sons Calvin Mallory, Jr. Left to cherish her memory are her loving sons, Willie Brice and his wife, Pastor Peggy Brice; Calvin Mallory Jr. and his wife, Lisa; one brother, Richard Brice; one sister, Maude Brown; four grandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was a member of Zion Travelers Baptist Church, 3662 Roundabout Road, Louisa, Virginia; where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, May 16, 2008, with Reverend James Graves officiating. Interment will follow at the Brice family cemetery.
