Sophie "Jackie" Jacqueline Ellis Syrkes of Fredericksburg, Virginia entered into eternal rest on Saturday, September 25, 2021. She was the third child of Richard Sr. and Hattie Burley Ellis of Mineral, Virginia. Jackie was born on August 17, 1951. At an early age she accepted Christ and was baptized at Shady Grove Baptist Church in Orange, Virginia. In later years, she moved her membership to Mt. Gilliam Baptist Church in Louisa, Virginia where she served in the hospitality ministry. She continued to serve the Lord throughout her life as she rejoined with Shady Grove Baptist Church until her final resting place.

Jackie attended John J Wright Consolidated School, the formally all black school until the school was integrated in her senior year. In 1969, Jackie attended and graduated from Spotsylvania County High School. She was very active in her high school and was chosen to serve in the Homecoming Court in the newly integrated school.

Jackie received a nursing certificate and a license for hairdressing. In her early years, she worked as a hair stylist and as an instructor for hair styling. Later, she was employed by the Department of Social Services where she worked until her retirement.

Jackie was a superb cook. Her famous rolls will be remembered by everyone who tasted them. Not only was she one of the finest cooks, she was creative and innovative in many areas. She enjoyed doing arts and crafts, drawing, painting, and making her own handmade custom gift baskets. Jackie's nursing skills gave her a love for helping others, especially the elderly. She was gentle and kind, and made everyone feel comfortable.

Jackie cherished spending time with family. She loved family gatherings and hosting her "Girl's Weekends" where she organized fun activities and games. She especially loved her children and adored her grandchildren. She spent as much time as she could with them. She was a great friend to many and treated everyone like family.

Jackie was preceded in death by her parents, Richard Sr. and Hattie Ellis; her brother, Richard Ellis, Jr. and her beloved nephew, Joey Davis. She leaves to cherish her memory, one sister, Sylvia Tyree (Arthur) of Mineral, VA; one brother, Ronnie Ellis (Sally) of Gilbert, AZ; two sons, Jonathan "Jon" Williams (Lisa) of Leesburg, VA and Rodney "Porkey" Williams of Mineral, VA; two grandchildren, Jonathan G Williams and Taylor G Williams; three aunts and two uncles: Loretta Coleman, Christine Burley, Joyce Jackson (James Peter) and, George Jones. She also leaves a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and close friends; all of whom she loved very much. May Jackie rest in peace.
