Alexandria - Shirley Thompson Holland , age 74, peacefully passed away on April 2, 2024, at her residence in Alexandria, Virginia.  She was born on September 16, 1949, to Theodore and Pauline Dickerson Thompson of Cismont, Virginia. Shirley completed her early education in the Albemarle public school system graduating from Jackson P. Burley High School in 1967.  She then attended Virginia State College, where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting in 1971.

In 1962 Shirley Thompson was baptized at the family's home church Zion Hill Baptist Church at Keswick, VA and where she married the love of her life Carroll Holland of Fluvanna County in 1972 and began their loving marriage journey of 52 years.  The couple made their home in Northern Virginia where Shirley enjoyed a distinguished 44-year Federal career with a number of agencies, retiring in 2015 as Senior Accountant.

Shirley was predeceased by her parents, stepfather, Joseph Basil Young and sister, Annetta Thompson. She leaves cherished memories with: her devoted husband Carroll; brother Theodore (Frankie) Thompson, daughter Robin (Michael) Johnson, son Tracy Holland, all of Northern, VA; aunts:  Dolores Alexander of MD, Christine Payne, Jean Payne and Joyce Price of VA; godchildren:  Monica Price, Allison Price and Skylar Hackett of Northern Virginia; sisters-in-law, Shirley Louise Holland, Jane Holland; brother-in-law, William Holland and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held on May 4, 2024, 12:00 noon, at Zion Hill Baptist Church, 802 Zion Hill Road, Keswick, VA.
