It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of Shirley Ann Hunter, a loving and inspiring beacon of light in our lives, who left us on December 10, 2025. Born to the late Alice and Earnest Johnson in Fredericks Hall,Va on April 19, 1944, Shirley Ann is proceeding in death by her three brothers Robert,Early, and James Johnson, four sisters, Mary Waller, Martha Jackson, Alice Johnson and Lillie Mae Johnson. .Shirley Ann Hunter excepted the lord at an early age . She was a devoted member of Tried Way Of The Cross of Mineral Va for forty plus years and then transitioned over to True Apostolic Church of Mineral VA where she served as a Usher and a member of the missionary board.Straight out of Louisa Public schools she started a Registered Nurse Career . Shirley was a spirited soul who embraced life with a fierce passion and a heart full of love. She was the embodiment of reliability, a trait that served her well in her 30-year long career as a Registered Nurse.
Shirley Ann was a cornerstone in the community of Mineral, Virginia. Her work as a Registered Nurse went far beyond her job description. She was a source of comfort to all her patients, and her dedication to their well-being was nothing short of inspiring. She was a dynamic woman of substance, whose love for her family was the driving force in her life. To know Shirley was to love her that smile those fancy hats she would wear to church on Sunday's Fashion was her middle name.
Shirley Ann's legacy is not one of material possessions but rather the intangible riches of love, kindness, and care. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister ,godmother and friend. Her unyielding spirit and unwavering courage have left a lasting imprint on our hearts. Her love story with her husband of 68years with Herbert Sr was unmatched.
She leaves to cherish her dear husband, her friend most importantly her world Herbert Lester Hunter Sr of Mineral, VA , one son who she loved dearly Herbert Lester Hunter Jr(Patrina)of Richmond one granddaughter Litisha Mills(Chavades) of Richmond ,seven great grandchildren who she adored and loved so much Charvon,Dominic, ChaViya, Chavades, Jr. ,Cha'Vari, Varlasia ,Chariya .She also gained four step grandchildren one proceeded in death ShaKira ,Cavadae, Alexus and Canyia all of Richmond, one goddaughter Lois Coles ,One sister Thelma (Jerome)of Maryland a hostess of nieces and nephews. Shirley gained a daughter she never had of her own but it was her daughter a beloved friend who genuinely loved her Sister Nancy Johnson a devoted friend Norma Trice who she adored and loved so much.
As we mourn the loss of our dear Shirley Ann Hunter we also celebrate her extraordinary life. We invite you to share your memories of Shirley Ann, and upload photos to the memorial page.
