Samuel L. Jackson, Sr., of Mineral, VA, departed this life on Thursday, October 14, 2010 at his home with family by his side. He was born to the late Samuel Jackson and Lena Hunter Jackson.
He was employed by North Anna Power Plant for a number of years as a truck driver. After retirement, he was employed by the Louisa County School System as a custodian and as a transportation driver until his illness caused him to stop working.
Besides his parents, Samuel was predeceased by two sisters, Bertha J. Houchens and Gladys H. Desper and one brother, Albert Hunter.
He leaves to cherish his memories: a devoted wife of fifty four years, Julia Jackson; two sons, Charles Jackson (Brenda) and Samuel L. Jackson, Jr. (Otelia); one daughter, Carolyn A. Jackson; nine grand- children; twelve great grandchildren; two brothers, James Jackson (Alice) of Maryland and Walter Hunter (Alice) of Mineral, VA; one sister, Alberta Houchens of Mineral, VA; four brothers-in-law; eleven sisters-in-law; mother and father-in-law, Eugene and Alice B. Houchens of Mineral, VA; one uncle-in-law, Wallace West (Eva), aunt-in-law, Athera Parker; a number of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends. He also leaves devoted friends, Dwaine and Kathey Evans of North Carolina, Edith Washington of Orange, VA; Charles Houchens, Sonny Carter and Jeff Johnson of Mineral, VA.

Funeral services will held 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 20,2010 at Rising Sun Baptist Church 6829 Fredericks Hall Road Mineral,VA 23117 with the Rev. Fred Sales officiating. Interment will follow in the Cushingburry Family Cemetery.
