Mrs. Sallie Mae Ellis Foster was born June 23, 1923 to Mrs. Carrie Mae Lampkin Ellis and Mr Alexander Ellis Sr. She was the first of 3 children; others to include Alexander Ellis Jr and Charles Evans Ellis.

She is a Louisa County native and graduate of the Louisa County Training School. She was a member of the former Oak Grove Baptist Church (now Bright Hope Baptist Church).

She later married Rev. George Thomas Foster of Richmond, VA and out of that union came 3 children, Gerald A. Foster, Ronald E. Foster, and Jacqueline B Foster. She supported her husband as the pastor's wife and actively served in all the churches he pastored. Upon her retirement, she returned to Louisa to take care of her ailing father and reunite with Bright Hope Baptist Church faithfully. She lived the love and the gospel of Jesus though word and deed.

Her favorite and often quoted scripture is 1 Corinthians 2:9, "No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him" and her favorite song is by Mahalia Jackson's "If I can help somebody along the way, then my living will not be in vain." Her favorite passion was family sticking together and her saying is "I'm happy with Jesus alone-- and peppermints."

She was preceded in death by her husband, George T. Foster, her son, Ronald E Foster and one devoted friend, George E. Hill.

She leaves behind to carry her legacy, her son, Gerald A. Foster; daughter, Jacqueline B Foster; eight grandchildren, Erika Foster, Christian A Foster (Jan), Kareem A.S.Hines (Chrystal), Tashara Gouidaby (Mohammadou), Jasheena Shelton(Stephen), Jared E Foster, Artiss Dandrige and Brittany L. Foster; eleven great grandchildren, Kareem, Darian, Ariyan, Veronica, Kyarie, Kelli, Ciarra, Nicholas, Alayla, Aissatou, and Kori and a host of family, friends, and church members.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 20,2013 at Bright Hope Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
