Elect Lady Ruth Elizabeth Winston Ragland, Gordonsville, VA, departed this life on January 19, 2017, at the age of 90. She was predeceased by her husband, the late Apostle Randolph Ragland, three brothers: George Winston, Arthur Winston, William Winston, one sister: Gladys Lawrence, one daughter-in-law, Grace Ragland, one son-in-law, Horace Coleman and two great grandchildren DeAncee Hunter and Javon Burruss.

She leaves to cherish her memories 13 children: Reginald Winston, LaVerne Coleman, Bishop James Ragland (Jane), Minister R. Wesley Ragland (Lois), Emily Watson (Jesse), Aretha Banks (Edward), Sheila White (Charles), June Robinson (Nelson), Charlotte Bacon, Wallace Ragland (Brenda), David Ragland, Sr. (Darleen), Rachel Churchman (James), and Moses Ragland; 34 grandchildren, 57 great grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren, two brothers-in-law; Matthew Ragland and George Ragland (Evvie), three sisters-in-law Esther Winston, Marjorie Ragland, and Flora Washington.

Elect Lady Ragland served as First Lady of the House of God, Gordonsville, for 54 years during Apostle Ragland's tenure as pastor. Lady Ragland loved the church, the community, and her family.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Daniel Sawyer and his staff, and the Legacy Hospice staff for the excellent and professional care they provided.

A viewing and celebration of life will be held Tuesday, January 24, 6:00 PM at the House of God, 5442 Columbia Road, Gordonsville, VA. Homegoing services will be held on Wednesday, January 25, 12:00 noon, at the Mt. Zion First African Baptist Church, 105 Lankford Avenue, Charlottesville, VA, with the Apostle T. E. Clark, eulogist, and Apostle G. R. Dailey, officiant, both of Lexington, KY. Interment will be in the House of God cemetery.
