Elect Lady Ruth Elizabeth Ragland, 92, of Gordonsville, assistant Pastor of The House of God of Gordonsville, departed this life Thursday, January 21, 2010, at the Charlottesville Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Ruth was born November 12, 1917, to the late John Wesley Ragland and Earline Lewis Ragland Maupin.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Bishop Charles and First Lady Emma Muhanes Lewis and Mrs. Betty Ragland. She was also preceded by five brothers, John Ragland Sr., Charles Ragland Sr., James and Moses Ragland, and Luke Ragland; three sisters, Emma Anderson, Rebecca Ragland and Lizzie Bishop.

She leaves to cherish her memory five brothers, Apostle Randolph and his wife, First Lady Ruth Ragland, Robert Ragland, Matthew "Mack" Ragland, George and his wife, Evvie Ragland, and Carl Ragland. She is also survived by two sisters, Earline "Alice" Bishop and Flora R. Washington; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Her remains rest at Thomasson Watson Funeral Service, Inc., 117 West Street Louisa, Virginia, where the family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8 p.m. Saturday, January 23, 2010.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, January, 24, 2010, at the House of God Holy Church, 5442 Columbia Road, Gordonsville, Virginia 22942. Elder James Ragland will be officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
