Russell Claudis Burruss, Jr. departed this life on October 9, 2007 at the University of Virginia Hospital. He was born September 29, 1944 to the late Russell and Viola Burruss.
Russell joined Foster Creek Baptist Church at an early age. He was educated in the Louisa Public Schools and joined the United States Army in 1963.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by siblings, Sylvia Smith, Juanita Hayden, George Burruss, Thelma Burruss, Lola Shelton and Kenneth Burruss. He leaves to cherish his memory three brothers, Thomas (Pearl) Burruss, Charles (Rosetta) Burruss, of Louisa, VA and Joseph (Yvonne) Burruss, of Raphine, VA; three sisters, Gloria Maupin, of Seattle WA, Otelia (Walter) Robinson, of Louisa, VA, Carrie (Timothy) Dulin, of Roanoke, VA; two aunts, Mamie McKeathon and Katherine Burruss; former wife, Pauline Burruss, two step children and a host of other relatives and friends. He was also
predeceased by a loving friend, Harriet Gilbert and survived by her daughter, Sharonda of Charlottesville, VA.
The funeral will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, October 13, 2007 at Foster Creek Baptist Church, 4028 East Jack Jouett Road (RR 640)Louisa, VA with Rev. Michael Crawley, Jr. officiating. A Military burial will follow in the Burruss Family Cemetery.
