Roy Estern Mallory departed this life at 10:44 p.m. on Sunday, June 5, 2011 at his home.

Roy was born September 16, 1930 to the late Delaware and Lucy Mallory. He was educated in the Louisa County Public Schools.
In 1942, he accepted Christ under the leadership of the late Rev. E. E. Robinson and was baptized by the late Rev. R.J. Robertson. While attending there, he was a member of the Usher and Trustee Boards.

In 1955, he was joined in holy matrimony to Alma Jackson. During this union, they were blessed with five children. Roy's favorite hobbies were gardening and fishing. He also loved being with his children and grandchildren. For many years, he was employed at Leggett & Myers and Stone & Webster Construction Company, a family logging business. He was later employed with and retired from Tyson Foods.

He leaves to cherish his memories: a devoted wife, Alma Mallory; four daughters, Armistine Cassell (Clyde), Della Nelson (Kenneth), Robbie Cosby (Thomas) and Andrea Phillips (Kennedy); one son, Marvin Mallory (Jane); eight grandchildren, Sean, Chanel, Monique, Torey, Megan, Travis, Monica and Logan; two great-grand children, Cayse and Cameron; four sisters-in-law, Bernice Cox, Pauline Jackson, Lillian Morris (Daries) and Bertha Gardner; close friends, Verna Henderson, who considered him as a second father and Heather Shaffer, who looked upon him as "Grandpa"; devoted friends, Wallace Nelson, Henry Robertson, Edward Munday and William Martin; caregiver, Derrick Houchens and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, June 9, 2011 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 3909 Holly Grove Drive, Bumpass, VA. Interment will follow in Rose lawn Memorial Garden, Glen Allen,VA.
