Roger Gregory Gatewood, Jr., age 55, of Maidens, Virginia, passed away on March 31, 2026. He was born on March 24, 1971, in Camden, New Jersey, to Roger and Peggy Gatewood.

Roger’s life was defined by love, compassion, and an unwavering faith in God. He touched countless lives through his kindness, empathy, and genuine concern for others. We ask that he be remembered not for the way his life ended, but for the profound and lasting impact he had on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Throughout his career, Roger was able to do what he loved most - working with and helping people from all walks of life, always taking the time to truly get to know those he worked with. His professionalism, encouragement, and belief in others inspired many to grow and succeed. He found great joy in the outdoors, cherishing hunting with family and friends and fishing on the peaceful waters of Lake Anna. He was ever generous with his time and advice, always ready to coach loved ones to “step up their game”, valuing above all the meaningful moments shared with those he loved. A devoted family man, Roger found his greatest happiness in staying connected to his family and friends, enjoying gatherings filled with laughter, conversation, and togetherness, and consistently checking in on others with warmth, understanding, and support during difficult times. Even as he faced health challenges for much of his adult life, Roger never allowed them to diminish his care and compassion for others.

Roger is deeply loved and will be forever missed by his devoted wife of nearly 26 years, Lisa Gatewood; his son, Roger (Devon) Gatewood III; his parents, Roger (Carol) Gatewood and Peggy Gatewood; his great aunt, Florence White; his grandchildren, Roger Gatewood IV and DJ Gatewood; his nephew, Elijah Gatewood; his niece, Yazmen Gatewood; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert and Rodney Gatewood, and his grandparents, Robert and Elaine Gatewood, and Robert and Edna Holt.

Roger’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. May the moments shared with him bring comfort and peace to those who mourn his passing.

“Those we love don’t go away; they walk beside us every day—unseen, unheard, but always near.”

In loving memory of Roger Gregory Gatewood, Jr.
