One of the most difficult things to deal with in life is the death of a loved one. God's Holy Words inform us that no man knows the day or the hour, so we have to live each day holy and preparing for our departure. The Bible tells us that our citizenship is in Heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body. It is with deep regrets and upmost sadness to announce the passing of Mr. Rodney Leon Wells on Thursday, May 3, 2018.

Rodney graduated from the Louisa County High School system. He loved working outside cutting grass, painting and doing a little construction work. He also loved doing favors for anyone. Just ask and his answer was always "yes." One of his hobbies was working on cars. His favorite food was his mother's sweet potato pie, fried chicken and potato salad. And he loved his stepfather's fried potatoes in the morning. He loved his mother dearly.

He joined Bright Hope Baptist Church at an early age, where he was a member of the choir and the usher board. He is preceded in death by his sister, Linda Maree Wells; father, Robert Wells; grandmother, Blanch A. Rawly; grandfather, Jacob H. Jones; nephew, Brian Lee Holt; sister-in-law, Debra Dien Wells; stepgrandmother, Julia B. Shelton; and stepbrother, Clarence Shelton.

He is survived by his son, Larod Raylyn Wells; mother, Lillian B. Shelton; stepfather, Ronald K. Shelton; brother, Roy L. Wells; Friend, Marlene Woodford and children: Marrissa, Zaylyna, Lakea, Janielous, and Trarell; stepgrandfather, Curtis Shelton, Sr.; stepbrothers: Curtis,(Jr.) Shelton, Charles Shelton, Robbie Shelton, Les Shelton, Samuel "Pumpkin" Shelton, Reginald "Reggie" Shelton; a host of nieces, nephews and friends; and best friends David Jasper and James Talley.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, May 12, 2018 at Bright Hope Baptist with Rev. Sherman Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
