Robert L. Brown of Palmyra, VA departed this life April 20, 2012 at home after a short illness.

Known to many as"Buster," he was born in Fluvanna County on December 30, 1930, the son of Edgar S. Brown Sr. and Carrie Brown.

Buster worked as a farmer for 40 plus years until his retirement. He was a member of St. James Baptist Church, where he accepted the Lord as his Savior at an early age.

Buster was an avid guitar player. He spent many evenings playing gospel or blues music.

He is survived by his loving wife Fannie of 58 years, and his son Gary and his wife Belinda of Palmyra, VA, and grandchildren Kimisha and Isaiah Brown of Palmyra, VA. Other survivors include sisters Novella Haywood and Ella Brown of Washington, DC, and Rose Brown-Taylor of Palmyra, VA and brothers Edgar S. Brown Jr. and Broadus Brown of Palmyra, VA and, other nieces, nephews and friends.

Buster is preceded in death by his father Edgar S. Brown Sr. and his mother Carrie Brown. His grandfather Miles Brown and grandmother Lucy Brown and, sisters Joan Key, Doris Holland and Gracy Brown-Payne. and, brothers Charles G. Brown Sr. and Johnny Brown.

A funeral service will be held 1 PM Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at St. James Baptist Church 17227 James Madison Highway, Palmyra, VA 22963 by Rev. Phillip Carter. Buster's body will be available for viewing from 11:30-1:00 prior to the funeral. There will be no family night, but the body will be available for viewing from 12:00 noon until 7 PM on Tuesday, April 24th at Thomason Watson Chapel in Fork Union, VA.

The family wishes to thank Hospice of the Piedmont and their staff for the care they provided. And Buster's niece Yolanda Payne-Maurice for being his personal nurse during his final hours.
