Richard "Douglas" Quarles Sr., 68, died on Friday, August 20, 2021 at The University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville, Virginia. Richard Sr. was born on December 30, 1952 in Charlottesville, Virginia to the late Phillip C. Quarles and Susie P. Quarles.
He was a 1971 graduate of Louisa County High School. He worked as a school bus driver for Louisa County Public Schools and a truck driver at Barton & Boyd for over 10+ years. Richard "Douglas" truly lived life to the fullest whether it was poking fun at others, disguising his voice, hosting all the parties on 208 or being a smooth operator in his cowboy boots while cruising his pretty red mustang.
Richard "Douglas" was the coolest dad, brother, uncle and poppa as he always did what he could for his family. He is survived by his daughter, Richetta Carter (Stanley); son, Richard Quarles Jr. (Raleigh); brothers, Edward Quarles (Brenda), Robert Quarles (Erma) and Donald Quarles (Pamela); a devoted friend, June Robinson; eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Daddy, Uncle D, Slim, Douglas, Poppa, this isn't a good-bye, it's a see you later on the other side. We love you Dougie Fresh, we know you cut a mean step as you entered the gates of heaven.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 28, 2021 from 5-7pm at The Sun Chapel D. D. Watson, Louisa.
Family and friends whose lives Douglas touched are invited to his "Celebration of Life" at First Baptist Church of Louisa, Sunday, August 29, 2021 at 1 pm.
