Richard Jackson was called peacefully to his eternal rest with the Lord on November 8, 2012. On September 9, 1938, Richard was born to the late Willis Edward and Edith Marie Jackson of Mineral, VA. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Alice J. Coles.

Richard first joined St. John Baptist Church in 1945 and then later moved his membership to Mt. Gilliam Old Site Baptist Church. He was a faithful member who truly loved the Lord serving on the church choir, trustee board, as a Sunday School teacher, church clerk and the church historian.

He attended the Louisa County Training School and furthered his education at VA Union University receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. He then went on to earn his Master of Education from the University of VA. He was an educator in the Louisa County School System for over 30 years serving as a teacher, principal and home school coordinator.

Richard later married the former Carlease Jordan in holy matrimony on January 29, 1977, and to this union were blessed with one son, Brandon Taurean Jackson.

He leaves to cherish his memory, along with his loving and devoted wife, Carlease Jordan Jackson of Mineral, VA, one son, Brandon Taurean Jackson (Tammy) of Chesapeake, VA; three grandchildren, Krystina , Christopher and Mvkwon; one sister, Josie J. Waddy of Pendleton, VA; two brothers in law, Rev. James Lea Coles (Deloise) of Montpelier, VA and William C. Jordan, Rochester, MN; one sister in law, Vera J. Ball (Charles) of Mitchellville, MD; nieces, Tanya Coles of Glen Allen, VA, Carolyn Waddy of Pendleton, VA; Ayana Ward (Rodney) of Maryland, Courtney Jordan of Atlanta, GA; nephews, Jordan Ball (Shelly) of Maryland and Stephen Jordan of Charlotte, NC; aunt, Celestine Mitchell of Suffolk, VA and a host of great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 12, 2012 at 2 pm in Mt. Gilliam (Old Site) Baptist Church. Intermet will follow in the church cemetery.
