Richard "Dick" Donald Buckner was born March 13, 1936 in Mineral, Virginia.

Richard received his education in the Louisa County School System. He was baptized at an early age at Laurel Hill Baptist Church in Mineral, Virginia. "Dick" as he was affectionately called worked his first job with his father, the late David Buckner, Sr. on the Railroad System. He later went to work for Louisa Hospital, Atkins Lumber and finally retired from Wayne Poore's Lumberyard.

In 1962, he met a beautiful young lady by the name of Teresa Ann Smith. A few months later he asked her parents for her hand in marriage and they were married on November 10, 1962. They were bless with four boys and two girls from this union.

"Dick" was called home to rest on October 2, 2010. He was the son of the late David and Alice Buckner. He was also predeceased by his brothers: Frank, Thomas, Wilson and Monroe.

He is survived by his wife, Theresa Buckner; six children, Donald (Gayle) Buckner of Louisa, Virginia, Gary (Teria) Buckner of Orange, Virginia, Angela Buckner, Richard Buckner (Cassandra), Cheryl (Gary Courtney and Milton Buckner all of Louisa, Virginia; three brothers, David (Barbara) Buckner and Charles Buckner all of Suitland, Maryland, and James Buckner of Florida; four sisters, Gladys (Ryland) Adams, Ruth (Curtis) Shelton, Janice (William) Shelton all of Louisa, Virginia and Christine Whittaker of Chester, Pennsylvania; five brothers-in-law, Emmett (Vanessa) Smith of Gainsville, Virginia, Roylee Smith, James Morris, Joseph (Diane) Morris all of Louisa, Virginia and Calton (Barbara) Morris of Orange, Virginia; two sisters- in-law, Mable Smith of Richmond, Virginia and Anniemae Saunders of Louisa, Virginia; ten grandchildren, one great grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, October 7, 2010 at the Thomasson Watson Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in the Bright Hope Baptist Church Cemetery.
