One of the most difficult things to deal with in life is the death of a loved one.  God's Holy Words inform us that no man knows the day or the hour, so we have to live each day holy and preparing for our departure.  The Bible tells us that our citizenship is in Heaven, and from it we await our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body.
Our darling Rena entered through the Holy Gates on Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at her home in Gordonsville, VA with her caring husband at her side.
Rena was born on November 9, 1946 and as we all know, she accepted Christ at an early age and continued to be a faithful servant until she took her last precious breath.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Edward Christmas, Sr and Cora Louise Quarles Christmas; first husband Thomas K. Johnson; her siblings: Jerry Christmas, Stewart Christmas, Jeanette Bishop, and Edna Waddy.
She leaves to cherish her dynamic memory, her husband Robert W. Garland, Sr.; her son, Thomas Johnson, Sr and wife Mary; her daughter Tena Johnson and devoted companion, Byron Jennings; two step children Robert (Jessica) Garland, Jr, Angela Garland; three grandchildren; Thomas Johnson, Jr (TJ), Jasmyne Johnson, Nia Johnson; one great granddaughter, Jayla Butler; one step grandson, Adonte Reeves;  four siblings, Clara Aheart, Elder Edward (Delores) Christmas , Elder Robert (Alice) Christmas,  Flora (Raymond) Pace, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and dear friend, Carolyn Wells.
Rena graduated from A.G. Richardson in Louisa County, and was employed at Louisa Manufacturing as a seamstress for 25 years until they closed their doors.  Subsequently, she started a new career as a home health care specialist.  Her last employer being Interim Health Care.
As a young adult, she was a servant at Galilee Baptist Church where she held multiple positions in service for the Lord. Later, she became a devoted servant at First Bible Way Church. Rena loved her church, and honored her Pastor. She served as the President for the Western District Usher Board for some time, choir member, missionary, and a faithful prayer service and bible study attendee.
Rena was a woman of many, many attributes, and wore many hats, but above all else, she was a wonderful woman of God, filled with His Holy Spirit and love which she passed to all that she met.
