On May 2, 2014, Phillip Almond Holland was called home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

He passed on at his residence in Louisa County. He was one of the sons of the late Thomas 'Man' and Julia Morris Holland. His death was preceded by his father and mother; sister, Mattie 'Honey' Hicks and his brother Thomas 'Dick' Holland, Jr.

Phillip Holland joined Galilee Baptist Church in Louisa County at an early age and later went to Zion Travelers Baptist Church located at Louisa, VA. There he became an active member and trustee. He attended school in Louisa and afterwards started working as a logger for many years as well as other jobs and remained active until his health started to fail in 2000.

Along with his wife Frances of 42 years, Phillip is also survived by his sons, Jason of Louisa, Derrick (wife Sherri) of Colorado; his daughters, Tawana of Louisa, and Tara of Chesterfield, as well as eight grandchildren and one on the way; his sisters, Jeanette 'Tootsie', Ruth and Margie, all of New Jersey, Hosanne of Charlottesville and Blanche of Louisa; brothers, Ronnie (wife Phyllis) of Louisa, Early (wife Barbara) of Louisa, and Leonard of New Jersey. He is also survived
by his mother-in-law, Mrs. Rena M. Poindexter of Prince George, VA.

He had many humorous nicknames like Skeet, Sho Sho, and even Sammy Davis, Jr. that he received while growing up. If he knew you, he had a nickname for you as well with his creativity. His style, smile, and talk will truly be missed. We will love and miss him always and forever.

The family will receive friends at Thomasson Watson Funeral Chapel from 6 until 7 p.m., Wednesday, May 7. Funeral services will be held at Zion Travelers Baptist Church 11 a.m., Thursday, May 8, followed by burial at the Holland Family Cemetery located on Courthouse Road, Route 208. A repass will be held at Zion Travelers Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.
