Born on February 21, 1946, Peggie was the eldest daughter of the late Marian A. Jackson and Curtis H. Jackson. Her maternal grandparents were the late Ardell J. Brown and Deacon Lacy Brown. She is also preceded in death by her sister, the late Linda J. Jones of Troy, Virginia and her beloved partner, Albert "Jake" Anderson. Our Blessed Savior saw that she was weary, so on January 30, 2025, He welcomed her home, having completed her work on this earth.

Peggie's 78 years were a testament to her unwavering determination, boundless generosity, and endless inspiration. Her faith, a cornerstone of her life, endowed her with a warm and welcoming personality. She never met a stranger and was always ready to lend a helping hand. Her spirit, filled with love and compassion, will forever reside in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her. Peggie love for life was evident in her enjoyment of traveling, singing, dancing, and, most of all, spending time with her cherished family and friends.

Peggie's upbringing in Charlottesville, Virginia was deeply rooted in faith, under the guidance of her maternal grandparents, Ardell J. and Deacon Lacy Brown. She professed her faith on January 24, 1954, and was baptized on June 13, 1954, at First Baptist Church, Charlottesville, Va. This early commitment to her spiritual beliefs shaped her character and influenced her actions throughout her life. She received her formal education in the local school system, graduating from Jackson P. Burley High School.

While residing in Poughkeepsie, New York, Peggie extended her educational studies at Dutchess Community College, Poughkeepsie, New York. She became a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church of Poughkeepsie. She worked at IBM Corporation for over 25 years, before returning home to Charlottesville. While residing here in Charlottesville, Peggie worked for BELK Corporation for 15 years.

Peggie leaves behind four sisters, Joyce J Conn (Asher) of Charlottesville, Va; Shirley J. Clay of Lake Moses, Washington; Patricia J Cook, Louisa Va; and Valerie R Christmas (Lloyd) of Dayton, Ohio. And a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

The family deeply appreciates Arnelle Carters' heaven-sent care and friendship; Peg and Arnelle became sisters, full of banter and love. We are also grateful to the Morningside staff who helped Peg in her care. The family is indebted, especially to all the compassionate healthcare providers at the University of Virginia. We also want to thank the community for their support and love during this difficult time. Thank you to Brandi, Tonya, Shamika, Ashley, and all who loved Peggie and contributed to her care.

To the Brown family, we at  D. D. Watson offer our most sincere sympathy and condolences. Our prayer continues to be that your abiding faith in God will lend to you a measure of comfort that will strengthen and sustain you during your time of sorrow.
