Pearlene Johnson Morton , affectionately known as "Muff", passed away on Saturday, August 29, 2020. Pearlene was born on October 1, 1939 in Spotsylvania, VA to the parents of Willie Emmitt Johnson and Edna Mae Johnson.
She was the second of four children born to this union.
Pearlene grew up in a loving home where her mother instilled education, hard work, love and a strong spiritual foundation. She was baptized at a young age at First New Hope Baptist Church and regularly attended Sunday School and church services.
As a youth, her first grade teacher in Louisa was her mother, Edna Johnson Moody. After the third grade, she transferred to John J. Wright Consolidated School in Spotsylvania, VA. After completion from high school, she attended Atlantic Business School in Washington, DC.
Pearlene entered the work force in Washington, DC at the unemployment office. Later, she transferred to the Bureau of Engraving. She retired after 30 years of government service.
Pearlene was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Howard Johnson and a sister, Grace Ann Snipes.
Pearlene leaves to cherish her memories, her husband, Thomas Morton; three children, Brenda, Tony and Thomas; sisters, Iola Fletcher and Thelma Willis; a devoted niece, Camille Grogan-Greer; nephews, Derrick Reid, Sr., Derrick Reid, Jr. and Tyrone Watkins, Jr.; nine grandchildren, special friends, Jean Teel, Anna Little, Evelyn Green and Katie.
