Pearl Lena (Stewart) Thurston, peacefully departed this life on Sunday, December 22, 2019 at approximately 6:00 a.m. in her home surrounded by two of her dedicated daughters, Lisa and Naomi LaVerne. Pearl, a lifetime resident of Louisa, VA, was born on February 16, 1935 to the late Charles and Pearl Stewart. She accepted Christ as her Savior when she was very young and attended church regularly. She was educated in the Louisa Training School after which she married Curtis W. Thurston, Sr. Pearl was employed at Louisa County Public Schools as a bus assistant and retired after ten years of service.

Pearl was a faithful and compassionate woman and tried to see the best in everybody. She had a great love for flowers and on early mornings you could find her walking around her flower beds or sitting on her porch meditating on God's goodness. Pearl loved family and would often say, "I have some good children."

For the past two years, Pearl fought against cancer, but always remained positive and hopeful. The doctors and nurses were quite impressed with her because of her faith and humble spirit. Some of us are reminded of what she told us: "If the Lord takes me Home, it's alright. I've lived eighty-four years and God has been good to me. I'm ready."

Pearl was preceded in death by her husband; two sons, Larry and Marlon Thurston; one grandson, Apollos Thurston; her parents, and 11 siblings. She leaves to cherish her memories eight chil-dren, Curtis (Wanda), Naomi LaVerne (Howard), Michael (Harriet), Austin (Sheila), Priscilla (Nathaniel), Lisa, Eric (Roselyn), Jason, and a beloved daughter-in-law, Brenda. She is also survived by a multitude of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, her youngest brother Russell (Mary) Stewart; of Philadelphia, PA; cousins, in-laws, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
Yes, Pearl will be missed but she will never be forgotten. Pearl will be forever in our hearts and loved by all.
