Pearl Desper Burruss was peacefully called to rest on Sunday, December 19th, 2021 in Louisa, Virginia. She was born October 8, 1937, in Louisa County, to the late John H. and Josephine G. Desper.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Thomas Burruss; four brothers, Rev. John H. Desper, Sterlin, Raymond and Cleveland Desper; two sisters, Mary Rollins and Lena Smith.
At an early age Pearl accepted Christ and joined Eagle Baptist Church in Louisa, Virginia. She graduated from AG Richardson High School, Louisa, Virginia.
She worked in the factories in Louisa County most of her life. She also held various domestic jobs around the town of Louisa.
Pearl loved watching TV. She especially enjoyed Steve Harvey on "Family Feud" and "The Price is Right" was her second favorite show. She loved talking on the phone and spending time with her family and friends.
She leaves to cherish her memories, four sons: Carl (Bertha) of Louisa, VA, Ernest (Margaret) of Harrisonburg, VA, and Thomas and Christopher Burruss of Louisa, VA; two daughters: Adriene Garnett (William) and Donna Bates (Rev. Austin G. Bates) both residing in Louisa, VA; two sisters: Nora Talley of Louisa, VA and Ada Hopewell of Goochland, VA; 22 grandchildren, 52 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren; four Brothers in law: Charles Burruss (Rosetta) of Louisa, Joseph Burruss (Yvonne), of Raphine, VA, Matt Smith, and Deacon Fleming Shelton of Louisa, VA, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Special thanks to her care takers, Deborah Bradshaw, Camberlina Lipscomb, and Esther Woodard. Special thanks also to Barbie Wellman, RN, UVA Hospital, and Hospice of the Piedmont.
Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Monday, December 27, 2021 at the Burruss Family Cemetery with Rev. Austin G. Bates officiating.
