Paul Quarles, was born on September 3, 1953, in Charlottesville, VA,  to Thomas and Nellie Quarles. He was one of nine children. He was loved by everyone who came in contact with him. He was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. Paul would hold fast to the beliefs that were installed in him as a child by his mother about Jehovah God. Anyone that knew Paul loved him. His unwavering commitment to his craft and his loved ones, made him one of a kind. He was a man who wove threads not only in Liberty Fabric factory but also in the fabric of his community.

Paul spent a remarkable 71 years in Gordonsviile, Virginia, a testament to his enduring love for his hometown. He displayed an exceptional dedication, to his family and friends. His hard work was a testament to his skill, patience, and artistic work. He retired in 2001, from Liberty Fabric leaving behind a legacy of craftsmanship and excellence that is still remembered by those who had the privilege of working alongside him. Paul could fix anything, and he was always there to lend a helping hand. Paul also had a love for cars, and he cherished his 84' Corvette!

Paul fell asleep in death on January 14, 2025, leaving a void that cannot be filled. He is preceded in death by his father Thomas Quarles, mother Nellie Quarles, and brothers Charles Allen & George Allen. He is survived by his three daughters,  Maisha Lucas, Tamara Lucas, and Bonsita Lucas, with whom he shared with his beloved friend, Wanda Lucas. His three brothers Curtis (Lou) Allen, James (Pat)Quarles, and Earnest Quarles. His five sisters Carolyn Smith, Roberta Quarles, Alfreda (Charles)Shelton, Joyce (Joe) Morone, Nancy Quarles, and Verma Quarles, five beloved grandchildren, two great grandchildren and host of nieces and nephews. And also cousins that he truly loved. Those that knew Paul ,will really miss him. His life was a cloth of love, resilience, and dedication, and he will forever be remembered for his kindness and humility.

To the Quarles family, we at  D. D. Watson offer our most sincere sympathy and condolences. Our prayer continues to be that your abiding faith in God will lend to you a measure of comfort that will strengthen and sustain you during your time of sorrow.
