To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: (Ecclesiastes 3:1)

A Time to be Born: Dr. Patrick David Mansfield was born June 15,1942 in Louisa County, Virginia, the son of the late Rev. Patrick Roosevelt Mansfield and the late Susie Ann Scott Mansfield. He was called the "middle child" born between his sisters, Mary Arrington, the late Bessie Morris and brothers, the late Spurgeon Mansfield and McLloyd Mansfield. Rev. and Mrs. Mansfield worked hard at raising their family of five and instilling in them family values they learned as children.

A Time to Plant: Dr. Mansfield attended schools in Louisa, County (Louisa Training and Archie G. Richardson High School) and graduated with a B.S. degree in Horticulture from Virginia State College (University). After his graduate work at VSU, he joined the U.S. Army where he spent four years. Upon leaving the military, Patrick entered Georgetown University School of Medicine. He graduated May 3, 1973 as the first Black American male to graduate from Georgetown Medical School. Even though he made his home in Maryland near Camp Springs, Patrick never forgot his home church, First Baptist of Louisa. He joined at an early age under the leadership of Rev. B.D. Ellis.

A Time to Love: On August 27, 1967, Dr. Mansfield was united in Holy Matrimony to Regina Mahafuz in the U.S. Army Base Chapel, Asmara, Eritrea. He stated later in life that "getting married to Regina was a great moment in my life."

A Time to Serve: Dr. Mansfield served his country as a Communication Specialist, Army Intelligence overseas and spent military time at Ft. Myer, the Pentagon, Ft. McNair and Walter Reed as an Army Medic. While in the military, he taught at Santa Familia University in Asmara, Eritrea and was honored by Haile Salassie, Emperor of Ethiopia by presenting Patrick an Academic Robe for his role as a teacher at the University.  Dr. Mansfield served mankind as an Anesthesiologist in the Northern Virginia and Washington D.C. areas for many years before he retired. He touched so many lives during his lifetime.

A Time to Laugh: Patrick Mansfield enjoyed traveling to all parts of the world. He especially enjoyed going to Africa on Safari in Botswana, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. Patrick looked forward to vacationing on the Outer Banks of North, Carolina annually with his family, and deep-sea fishing. He enjoyed listening to music, reading his travel magazines, growing and maintaining his house plants and fixing things. He was an expert at photography. Patrick enjoyed life.

A Time to Die: Patrick David Mansfield entered into eternal rest on Friday, June 03, 2022 at MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital, Clinton, Maryland. He leaves to cherish his memory, Regina Mansfield; daughter, Aida Mansfield (Teclai) of Silver Springs, MD; son, Daniel Mansfield (Salem) of Bethesda, MD; grandchildren, Sonya Teclai of Los Angeles, CA, Semona Teclai of Silver Springs, MD and Melina Teclai of Brooklyn, NY; sister, Mary Arrington (William) of Charlottesville, VA; brother, McLloyd Mansfield (Pearl) of Camp Springs, MD; sister-in-law, Rolinda Mansfield of Gordonsville, VA; goddaughter, Makayla Mansfield of Columbia SC and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
