Oscar Wilbur Scott, age 80, born January 2, 1935, departed this life on April 14, 2015 in Salem, Virginia.


He was the first born son of the late James Bennett Scott and Lettie Elizabeth Parrish Scott. He became a member of the Galilee Baptist Church in his youth.


He graduated from the Louisa County Public School system where he excelled academically. He attended Virginia State College. He was a gifted musician and loved playing piano and singing. He sang at local churches and would sometimes break out in song when visited by family members. He possessed a gentle and witty spirit and had a loving rapport with family.


His memory will forever be treasured by his four brothers: Gilbert Scott, Millard Scott, Alfonso Scott all of Louisa and James Scott of Williamstown, New Jersey; and one sister Linda Russell of Willingboro, New Jersey. He is also survived by three sisters-in-law: Barbara Scott, Susie Scott and Isabel Scott; two brothers-in-law Robert Earl Grooms and Larry Russell and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by four sisters: Ann Jackson, Delaphine Grooms, Teresa Taylor and Rosa Harris.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 18, 2015 at Galilee Baptist Church 3598 Three Notch Road Kents Store, VA 23084.

Viewing will be at Thomasson Watson Funeral Chapel on Friday, April 17 from noon until 7 p.m. and Saturday, April 18, 2015 at Galilee Baptist Church from noon – until 2 p.m. service. Interment in the church cemetery.
