On Thursday, September 27, 2007, our loving husband, father, brother, uncle, nephew, very close cousin and very dear friend, Deacon Oscar David Bullock entered into eternal rest and peace to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He now rests with his loved ones who preceded him in everlasting life: grandparents, Frank and Lillian Morris & John and Francis Bullock; parents, John and Queen Ester Bullock; sister, Evelyn Turner and brother, John Jasper Bullock, Jr.

Oscar was born August 10, 1939 and resided in New York City where he attended public schools. He was a dedicated student of the Virginia University of Lynchburg School of Theology. He also served his country as an honorable marine.

At an early age, he joined St. John Baptist Church in New York City. He remained a member there until he relocated to Louisa County, Virginia in 1975. Brother Bullock recommited his life to Christ at the Mt. Gilliam (Old Site) Baptist Church where he was rebaptized in 1993. He served as Vice Chairman of Trustees and currently served as Vice Chairman of Deacons at Mt. Gilliam, attended and taught Sunday School. He willingly performed any other task that was needed to maintain the physical, financial, and spiritual growth of his church. He was also a member of the Virginia State Baptist Deacons Conference of Richmond Virginia and Vicinity.

Deacon Bullock was employed by the Hanover Precast Company in Ashland, Virginia.

Oscar was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He leaves to cherish his memory, a devoted and loving wife of thirteen years, Nancy Bullock; three daughters, Shawn Bullock, Gabrielle Bullock (Carroll Rock) of California and Sylvia Bullock of New York; grandchildren, Andru and Gregory Sigler, Alissa Carroll, Aysia, Brian, and Brandon Townes; sisters, Maude Romero, Sylvia Bartholomew (Milton) of New York and Francine Bullock of Maryland; sisters-in-law, Paulette Crewe, Anna Johnson, and LaVerne Saunders; brothers-in-law, Taylor Johnson, Anthony Crewe, and Irving Saunders, a host of nieces, nephews, many devoted cousins, friends, neighbors, and a devoted niece Jewell Shelly Turner.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 2, 2007, at 1:00 p.m. at Mt. Gilliam Baptist Church (Old Site), 4161 Chalklevel Road (RR 624 & 625), Louisa, Virginia. Services will be officiated by Reverend Sherman W. Thomas; interment in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to the Mt. Gilliam Baptist Church Building Fund.
