Odessa Tweedy Parrish of Kents Store, Virginia peacefully departed into eternal rest on Sunday, May 29, 2011. She was born on May 10, 1922, to the late James and Fannie Tweedy of McDowell County in West Virginia. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Irving L. Parrish, mother, Fannie Tweedy and father, James Tweedy; four sisters, Evangeline Tweedy, Katherine Taylor, Elvira Solomon and Madeline James; one brother, James Tweedy; mother-in-law, Bessie Parrish; father-in-law, William James Gabe Parrish; six brothers-in-law, Harold Parrish, Alfred Parrish, Ethelbert Parrish, Fred James, James Taylor and Labron Simmons; two sisters-in-law, Thelma Simmons and Eleanor Parrish; one niece, Gwendolyn Tweedy; one nephew, James E. She was employed at Cedars Nursing Home and Holiday Inn for years until her husband's injury took her to be a housewife, mother and caregiver. Upon that time she raised kids and in the process took care of her husband and sister, which give her the mother of the year award. She never complained and until the end her faith was with the "Old Man" her Savior Jesus Christ. She will be truly missed by all that knew and loved her. She leaves to cherish her memory: two daughters, Carolyn Parrish (Curtis) and Estelle Maryland both of Kents Store, Virginia; one son, Roger L. Parrish (Frances) of Kents Store, Virginia; one sister-in-law, Willie Parrish of Detroit Michigan; fourteen grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren, ten great-great grandchildren, special great grandchildren Mariah, Lisavion, and Jeremarion and a host of nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Davita Dialysis, Dr. Freeman of Martha Jefferson Hospital, Dr. Lim of UVA and Dr. Mark Goldberg and Hospices of Piedmont.
