Norman Lee Syrkes was born on August 13, 1950, to the late Edward & Hannah Jane Syrkes. Norman departed this life on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at his home in Mineral, Virginia.
Norman attended the Louisa County Public School system. He worked at Eddie Chewing and John Masson Lumber Companies. He loved playing cards, watching western movies and spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by brothers: Carl, Curtis, Gennie, Henry and Joseph.
Norman touched the lives of so many.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his brother, Nathan Syrkes (Emma Jane); his four sisters, Ruth Jackson (Milton), Pearl Minor, Bertha and Louise Syrkes; sister in-law, Brenda Syrkes and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
A special thanks goes out to his caregivers, John & Mary Lewis and Pam Tignor.
Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Sunday, December 13, 2015 at St. John Baptist Church, 5482 Zachary Taylor Highway, Mineral, VA 23117 with Rev. Jerry Coleman officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
