Nathan Eugene Edward Syrkes, 89, of Mineral (Louisa), VA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 5, 2021, in Caroline County, VA with his family.
Nathan joined the St. John Baptist Church, Mineral, VA at an early age and rededicated his life to Jesus the Christ, Son of the Living GOD in December 2020. He was a Trustee and Deacon at St. John for many years.
Nathan worked at Goodman Brother's Sawmill at a young age and after getting married to Emma Jane Putty, he continued to work and later became an entrepreneur owning a sawmill. Once departing the entrepreneurship, he landed a job at the Louisa Manufactory working there for many years until moving on to the Louisa Woolfork Manufactory as a driver. GOD blessed him even more and increased his territory with employment at the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Training Academy, Quantico, VA until his retirement in 1997. Nathan then dedicated his retirement to chauffeuring the "old folk" to and from appointments, doctors visits, grocery stores, etc. while taking the time to enjoy lunch and spending time with others.
He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Emma Jane Syrkes and their children: Emma "Puddin" Burley, Mary Ann Ellis, Ethelean "Cookie" Carter, Nathan "June" Syrkes, Jr. (Jackie), James (Linda) Syrkes, Annie Mae Morton (Albert "Earl"), and Robin Yates (George "Doug"). He also leaves his dearest sisters: Ruth Jackson (Milton), Pearl Minor, and Bertha Syrkes; grandchildren: Sharon Burley, Major Burley, Anthony Ellis, Shameka Ellis-Stephens, Maritta Ellis-Jeffries, Freddie Carter Jr., James Syrkes Jr., Denise Syrkes- Lee, Jermaine Morton, Jenelle Morton, LaQuanda Morton, Krisha Syrkes, Alisha Yates, Kendra Yates, and George Yates, III; forty-three great-grandchildren; faithful sister-in-law, Mary B.
