Mildred Louise Harris, affectionately known as "Lil Gal" to those who knew her best, was born on April 22, 1944, to the late Paul and Dorothy Thurston in Louisa County, Virginia.
She was educated in Louisa County Public Schools and became a member of Laurel Hill Baptist Church at an early age. "Lil Gal" was employed for many years at Louisa Manufacture. She was always known in the neighborhood for her "tell you like it is attitude".
She was preceded in death by her brother, Clarence Thurston; sister, Lillie Mae Berkeley and son Calvin Harris.
She leaves to cherish her memory four children: a son, Frank Harris, Jr. (Tammy) of Richmond, Virginia; three daughters, Diane Christmas (Ronald) of Louisa, Virginia, Janice Harris and Karen Harris of Mineral; two beautiful twins, Destiny and Diamond who she held close to her heart; two brothers, Samuel Thurston (Loberta) and Paul Thurston; two sisters, Lena Belle Shelton (Clarence), and Clarisa Shelton all of Mineral. She also leaves nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and a host of cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1 P.M. on Monday, April 6, 2015 at the Laurel Hill Baptist Church, Kentucky Spring Road, Mineral VA with the Reverend Barry Carpenter, officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
