Mildred Elizabeth Simms departed this earthly life Friday, February 2, 2007 at the home of her daughter Constance Simms, in Virginia Beach, Va. She was born April 16, 1945 to the late Willie and Betty Brooks. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by two brothers, Junior N. Brooks and Herbert "Frank" Brooks.
Mildred attended the public school system in Louisa Virginia. She joined Eagle Baptist Church at an early age, under the pastorage of the late Rev. Henry Taylor. Mildred had a quiet and gentle spirit. She was a diligent worker in her church and was the dedicated Chairperson of the Hospitality Committee. She was also the former Missionary Chairperson for many years. To have met and known Mildred was one of the many blessings from God. She will truly be missed by everyone whose path she crossed.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving and devoted daughter Constance Simms, Virginia Beach, Va.; devoted friend, Alfred "Butch" Holt, Louisa, Va.; three sisters, Evangelist Edith Byers (Clinton), North Garden, Va.; Susie Davis (Arthur) and Dorothy Poindexter (Aubrey) Louisa, Va.; two brothers, George and Linwood Brooks, Louisa, Va.; one aunt, Dorothy Bannister, Louisa, Va.; five sister-like friends, Jewell Diane Oliver, Carolyn Lewis, Linda Brooks, Mary Anderson, and Shirley Pendleton and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 7, 2007 at 1 pm at the Eagle Baptist Church with the Pastor, Rev. Dr. Charles H. Sims, Sr., officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
