God, in his most gentle way opened the Book of Life on June 5, 2008 and saw that his beloved Reverend Mildred Viola Farrar, Pastor Emeritus of Canaan Soul Saving Station Church, had completed her earthly life. He peacefully reached down with His mighty hand and whispered " Peace be Thine" and lifted her from this earthly life into Paradise with the Lord, where she now has eternal rest.
Reverend Mildred Viola Farrar was the seventh of eight children (and last surviving sibling) born to the late Laura Jane Duvall Farrar and Doe Farrar on April 27, 1910 in Fluvanna County, Virginia. Reverend Farrar was raised in Kents Store, Virginia, and attended the Sue Shepard and Hilltop Schools.
For 44 years, Reverend Farrar served as the Pastor of the Canaan Soul Saving Station Church. Due to failing health, Reverend Farrar passed the Pastoral leadership to then Assistant Pastor, Reverend JoAnn Brice on April 14, 2007.
The love and caring Reverend Farrar expressed throughout her life will form a legacy of lasting memories worthy of remembering.
She leaves to celebrate and cherish her memory, her daughter, Brenda Farrar; a loving and devoted niece, Loretta Saltor; a nephew, Benjamin Salter (Mary); two foster sons, Carroll (Tammie) and Timothy Brown; granddaughter, Jennifer Jerideau Cooke; great granddaughter, Monica Jerideau; four great-nieces, three great-nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
The family would like to express many thanks to the staff of the Louisa Health Care Center for their patience with and care of Reverend Farrar during her stay; for all the prayers, cards, and visits from members of the Clergy, family and friends over the past three years.
Funeral services for Reverend Farrar will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, June 11, 2008 at Canaan Soul Saving Station Church, 6580 Venable Road, Kents Store, VA. with Bishop Robert L. Winley, General Overseer, Soul Saving Station, New York, officiating. Interment will follow at the Farrar Family Cemetery.
