Michelle Denise Burruss, affectionately known as "Shelly," departed this life on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at the Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital; she was 57 years old.

Michelle was born on November 22, 1966, in Charlottesville, VA to the late John Davis Burruss and Rosa Rollins Burruss. Michelle was educated in the Louisa County Public Schools and baptized at a young age at Foster Creek Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers Roger, Hank and John Burruss, her sister Lisa Burruss, and her nephew and niece, Landon and Dawn "Dee Dee" Burruss.

Michelle Denise Burruss is survived by her beloved companion of more than 20 years, Clarence "Man" Washington; four sons –  Christopher, Clayton, Derrick, and Jamar Burruss; four daughters – Tomeka Turner (Kennard), Sheena Burruss, Twanda Washington (Stewart), and Keneshia Burruss (Alexander), two loving step-sons, Clarence "Tank" Jackson (Ramanda) and Lonnie Washington, and two bonus daughters, Keisha Craft and Shameka Wells; 15 grandchildren – Tremaine, Tzion, Olivia, Layaunna, Averyon, Layla, Landon, Xhaviair, Christopher Jr. "CJ", Alex, Jada, Clayton Jr. "CJ", Ayaunna, Jayquan and Autumn. Michelle is also survived by her sister, Betty "Boo" (Wayne) and four brothers, Richard Butch", Dennis "Red", Kenny (Teresa), and Alton (Angie) Burruss; her uncle, Lloyd Burruss, Sr. (Mary), a special cousin, Angela Terrell (Mark), a special nephew, Lamar "Marlo" Burrus, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Michelle was a devoted mother who loved her children and she wholeheartedly loved and nurtured her grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing slots, and hosting family gatherings where her cooking was always the highlight of the day.
